Blue Shoes Roundup: Here's to 2023!

Updated: Dec 30, 2022

With the year coming to a close, now seems like a great time to reflect on the last twelve months at Blue Shoes Productions, before looking ahead to our plans for 2023. It's been another great year, and we've listed out some of our best moments below!

We've worked with a selection of fantastic clients, including the Shakespeare North Playhouse during their incredible opening weekend. With parades, musical performances, dancing, and drama, it was one of the most enjoyable jobs we've ever done, and captured an amazing array of footage of the festivities that descended upon Prescot! Another highlight was working with English Folk Expo during their annual Manchester Folk Festival to capture the unique blend of English and Kashmiri folk music through an excellent performance by Touchstone, which brought four UK-based solo artists together to share heritage and friendship through music.

Our Highlights

In May, Jake and Alex went to the 75th Cannes Film Festival on the Three Days in Cannes accreditation, meeting an amazing array of filmmakers and critics alike, watching film premieres and meeting stars including Tom Hanks!

We also finally got our hands on our Venture Further Award trophy at a fantastic awards night hosted by The University of Manchester.

Alex spoke to the BBC's 'Share Your Story' about his career and his work with Blue Shoes!

Liam directed his first short drama film Scratch, which will be hitting the festival circuit in the new year as well. Keep your eye out for updates!

The Year Ahead

Next year looks set to be a great year for Blue Shoes. We are always on the lookout for fascinating stories to turn into documentary shorts, and we are actively looking to develop scripts into short films as well, so make sure to let us know if you would like to collaborate on any work in the near future.

We are also launching Social Impact Studios, a non-profit Community Interest Company which aims to make the arts, history, culture, and filmmaking more accessible for people who have traditionally felt like they are unable to connect with them. We will look to run workshops, create visual social value reports, build community archives through oral histories and video interviews, and much more. Make sure to drop us an email for more information!

As always, we are available to work with clients from the third sector, the arts and heritage industries, and corporate clients that are looking for video production, documentary films, music performances, promotional videos, and much more. Don't hesitate to get in touch with us for a quote or to book in some filming dates.

Wishing everyone a happy new year!
